It’s a known fact that moving house lists in the top 10 of life’s stressful events but to do it whilst the world around us changes the way we do things on a daily basis and the unrest out there due to global events is palpable, well, it just adds to the madness. Add to that the change in suburbs and you have enough to think about without taking on the present worries of the world. Today has to carry on. The journey has been difficult enough with pandemics, lockdowns, isolation, global financial aberration and social distancing but, the destination has been reached through pure doggedness and the move has begun.
So, not just around the corner where daily life and friends stay somewhat familiar but new scenery to wake up to each day, new faces to smile at and remember. There’s the new ‘local’ butcher to find, the new ‘garbage day’ to work out and of course the new ‘local’ to sip at! It can be a daunting prospect or it can be embraced. It can wash a tide of sadness over heavy shoulders as all your worldly goods are packed in cardboard boxes as you say goodbye or it can be the start of something new. Choose your thoughts wisely.
Mind cobwebs and city grime make way for a fresh outlook. The new but familiar, never gets old, salty sea air embraces your senses as you turn the key for the first time. Where the breeze blows gently across the white caps rocking the anchored small vessels and the setting sun sheds golden rays that are mesmerising as you turn to smile at all that surrounds you. You know that you have come home!
Even though you are fully aware of what those cardboard boxes contain, there is a certain magic in striking open the box, unwrapping the contents and finding new places for them to call home. Memories jump out of those boxes. They bring smiles that add to the creases as you find new joy in things that have been taken for granted sitting in the same spot for as long as you can remember, tears can be brought on by the unwrapping of an item that has a special meaning but has been put to the back of your mind for far too long. There’s a new lease of life for the old but comfy and there is the old favourite that you wouldn’t be without.
Moving is stressful it must be said but the hurdle has been jumped, the home straight is in front of you. Its up to you how you reach the finishing line. Savour the moment.Post Views : 275
